My fellow reenactors,

On behalf of the Western Los Angeles County Council of the Boy Scouts of America, you are invited to the Civil War reenactment at the 100th Anniversary Jamboree at Hansen Dam Recreation Area on October 16-17.

This event will be huge. At this point expect 15,000 Scouts and family members. There has been no jamboree of this size in Southern California in well over ten years that I am aware of. Perhaps others of you may know of others in the more distant past. In any event, this event offers the opportunity to recruit heavily among the Scouts and their parents so as to add new blood to the reenactor ranks, and I am confident that the Scouts will provide an appreciative audience.

On the web page are photos taken from a position in the park that overlooks our area. This should give you a good idea of the terrain.

There will be two battles on Saturday and one on Sunday since the Scouts have to be out of the park early. Reenactors may arrive after 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Please note that because of the extraordinary number of Scouts and others in the area that morning, all vehicles must be out of camp by 8:00 on Saturday morning.

The waiver and release can be found within a week or so at www.civilwaralliance.com, but no pre-registration will be taking place.

Hay, water, and firewood will be provided.

There will be a reenactor Dance on Saturday night, with Ginger Alberti doing the dance calling.

The registration fee will be $5.00.

To get there, exit the 210 Freeway at the Foothill Boulevard exit. Follow the signs for reenactors to the reenactment area.

You can expect another update with additional information before the event.

And now, on to Hansen Dam!
