We are within the 30 day window for this event so this is a quick note to remind everyone about the HB Civil War Days reenactment Sept. 4th and 5th.
Always looked forward to, this event needs little or no advertising. The reenactor turnout puts this event in the top three of the year, and the spectator numbers require them to get there early to get a place to watch.
This event is an invitational event, open to reenactors from any organization, and those participating as independents. Your participation enables the Historical Society to continue hosting this quality event. Comfortable weather in the midst of a metropolitan area, yet, in a park setting, has all the ingredients for a great weekend.
There is now a separate web site (http://hbcivilwar.webs.com/ ) that provides:
· Event flyer
· Parking Pass
· Reenactor and Civilian Forms/Registration
· Organizations and Non-Profit Group forms
· Sutler Forms
Since the HBHS has a website for their event, it is my understanding they are no longer sending out individual emails or USPS registration forms in advance of the event.
The exact time reenactors can enter the park has yet to be determined. The time is controlled by the park maintenance personnel and as soon as a time is determined it will be posted to the http://hbcivilwar.webs.com/ website.
Do not arrive on the park property earlier than the arrival time (to be posted). Any reenactor other than Col. Settle or Col. Harrington that enters the park early, will be asked to leave the event. The park is not going anywhere and we will not start the event without you so there is no need to cause any problems regarding this by sneaking into the park early.
Please be mindful of the irrigation sprinklers and that no one is to drive on the grass. Each year the HBHS has to pay the park for damaged irrigation sprinklers. This is money better left to the HBHS for their important work.
The Huntington Beach Historical Society and Huntington Beach Park work very hard to provide you a well organized and friendly event. Your cooperation is appreciated in advance.
Please forward this message to your own reenactor email list so the Huntington Beach Historical Society gets the maximum distribution to as many reenactors as possible.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
I look forward to seeing everyone there for a great 2009 Huntington Beach event.
